Interclub at Hertz Grappling 26/7/26
Our friends over at Hertz Grappling invited Sabre Grapplers over to join them at their inaugural interclub event. This was a brilliant morning, allowing grapplers a competition experience in a smaller, friendly environment - for free!
3 students from Sabre took part in this event: Alex Blackbourne (blue belt), Oscar Latimer (blue belt) and Alex Scott. All 3 students represent Sabre in the usual way, demonstrating the club values at all times. At the same time, we were among friends and the atmosphere reflected that - it was a really fun morning!
Our 3 competitors did brilliantly.
Alex Blackbourne took on two very good blue belts and acquitted himself admirably.
Oscar Latimer, in his first outing at blue belt, submitted both opponents very early on in each match: an inverted triangle-americana and a guillotine.
Alex Scott made the most of the day by competing in 4 matches. In the gi, he submitted both of his opponents using a straight footlock and then a mounted americana. In nogi, his first opponent caught him with a guillotine, but Alex returned the favour by guillotining his second opponent. Overall, 3 wins from 4.
Once again, thank you to our friends at Hertz Grappling for putting on this excellent interclub event. It is a fantastic way for grapplers to gain experience without all of the stress and cost of mainstream competitions!
